JUNIOR TAKEOVER DAY RETURNS

4 April 2023

It’s that time again, our Junior Takeover returns! A number of young Reds will once again takeover at Oakwell on Monday 10 April (Easter Monday), as Barnsley host Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One.

For the fourth time, the Reds will play host to a number of new faces on matchday, as junior supporters are to be given a unique opportunity to work alongside their heroes for the day.

The previous three Takeover Days proved to be a hit amongst junior participants and staff alike and we are hoping that that this season will be the best yet.

Fans between the ages of 6-14 can apply for one of five roles;

- Stadium Announcer

Shadowing the Stadium Announcer, one Junior Red will be on the mic, announcing the team news at 2.30pm and will have a unique view of the match from the PA Room!

- Media Assistant

This individual will be a key figure across all of Barnsley FC's digital platforms. Throughout the match, they'll be updating Social Media, distributing team sheets to the press, writing a match report, and taking in post-match interviews.

Grounds Assistant

It's a tough job. Pre-match, young supporters will be expected to assist marking out the lines and penalty spots as well as ensuring all corner flags are in the correct position.

Watching the match from the West Stand, at half-time it's back to work! Assisting the grounds team, these individuals will help repair the pitch ready for the second set of 45 minutes.

Kit Assistant

This job is completely behind the scenes, with all of the work completed pre-match, within the realms of the first team dressing room. With an access all areas pass, this one individual will be responsible for ensuring players' kit is set out in the correct position and style, whilst also pairing the right boots with the right player.

- First Team Player

It will be a full day. You’ll meet the media, backroom staff and have your own place in the dressing room. Prior to kick-off, you’ll also get a run out on Oakwell!

To stand a chance of taking part, please fill in the following form and select a role*. The Club will contact the successful applicants once they have reviewed every application.
