Knicks Re-Sign Mitchell Robinson

NEW YORK, July 12, 2022 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has re-signed center Mitchell Robinson. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are ecstatic that Mitchell Robinson, a key member of our foundation, has signed a long-term extension,” said Knicks president Leon Rose. “He’s our defensive anchor, our rim protector, and someone our organization has seen grow tremendously both on and off of the court over the last four seasons.”

Robinson, 6-11, 270 pounds, averaged 8.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over 25.7 minutes in 72 games (62 starts) last season. He was among the league leaders in offensive rebounds (4.1, third), blocks (1.8, sixth) and field goal percentage (76.1-percent, top in the league but didn’t qualify).

He is the franchise’s all-time leader in field goal percentage (72.2-percent) and holds career averages of 8.4 points, 7.5 rebounds (3.4 offensive rebounds) and two blocks over 23.8 minutes in 230 games (117 starts) over four seasons. He led the NBA in field goal percentage (74.2-percent) in 2019-20, finished top 10 in the NBA in blocks three times (2018-19; 2019-20 and 2021-22) and top 10 in offensive rebounds twice (2019-20; 2021-22). He was originally selected by New York in the second round (36th overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft, out of Chalmette HS in Louisiana. He was named second team All-Rookie in 2018-19.
